The Golden years a time in all our lives where we look forward to retirement, long gone are the days when pensioners were in their prime.
Now the prime candidates for the government's new ruling of raising retirement to the ripe old age of 67. How many of the golden oldies will make it down to the local post office to collect their pensions.
What happened to the days when grandparents sat you on their lap and told funny stories of their child hood?
Kiddies of the 21st century now listen to tales of woe of how life was a struggle or the pain suffered because the list for a hip replacement was as long as your arm. Sometimes it makes you wonder why our children today are full of so much anger and hate, when the stories told do not fill them with laughter just sadness.
Turned are the golden years into olden years more like where old timers are liberated to do as they please. Do what? Have you ever tried skiing on a Zimmer frame or sky diving with a pacemaker?
Slave Labour (excuse the pun) slavery went out with the ark or so we believed but is back with vengeance.
For e.g. the government took measures to protect pensioner from the freezing winter by giving a heating allowance only to take it back forcing them to hobble through blizzards to work some more. Compassion is far from their thoughts when enforcing new laws. These governing bodies certainly know how to take the living out of life of all human beings.
The days and dreams of ever attempting a dare devil stunt for all golden oldies (pensioners) will forever remain a memory. To have lived their lives in the fast lane will always be in their thoughts.
I hasten to add it is never too late to sit the kiddies on your lap once again and fill them with knowledge on how to get the best out of life under the jurisdiction of others.
There will always be rules/regulations that we as a nation are not happy with, so what can we do about it? In some cases choices are zilch, so on with the thermals to clock on for another eight hour shift.
But for those still in their prime give them the opportunity to live your dream for you.
Children in the twentieth century are going to struggle like that of the old days without an education. To be able to succeed or cope in this world then knowledge is a necessity. Members of parliament are where they are today because they furthered their education to their own advantage, if that's what it takes for a child to have life put back into living then act now.
There are many active pensioners who this article is not personally directed at but for those who are tired, then I say take heed all political members and let the golden oldies enjoy what ever little time they have left on this planet so they can go prune their roses.

Photovoltaic Systems - Clean Electricity From the Sun
Photovoltaic System
As people search for alternatives to fossil fuel energy, solar energy emerges as one of the cleanest and most practical sources of electricity. Solar panels can be installed on rooftops or any area that receives a lot of sunshine. The solar panels consist of a photovoltaic system that converts the energy of the sun into electricity. The word Photovoltaic is a conjuction of the old Greek word "Photon" meaning light and Volt, the force that makes electrons move
Photovoltaic systems have existed since the 1950s but only in recent years has the technology matured to the point of making it a viable alternative to power utilities. Indeed, most solar systems do not replace the utility company instead they work in conjunction with it to produce extra electricity that can be fed back into the grid.
One of the main problems with solar power is storing it for use during non-daylight hours. Batteries can be used but they are expensive and have a limited life span. As an alternative, excess solar electricity can be fed back to the power utility company for a credit, and then power can be drawn when needed. In a sense, the utility company becomes the storage device.
Most municipalities have legislation requiring power utility companies to accept electricity produced by solar panels or wind turbines. This system benefits everyone "there is less dependency on fossil fuel power plants" and electricity costs are reduced for owners of photovoltaic systems.
This is called net-metering, the specifics depend on your location and utility company. A disadvantage of these grid connected systems is that there invertors disconnect in case of a power faillure. This is a quite logical demand from the utility companies point of view. Their engineers have to know for sure that the grid they are working on is really dead. But from our point of view it can be a nuicance. The solution is a grid connected system with battery backup.
Photovoltaic cells produce electricity by using specially treated materials such as silicon that convert light into power. They can be of almost any size and are suitable for providing electricity for small items such as calculators or watches right up to complete industrial complexes. Because they can be wired together, an array of solar cells can produce enough electricity for residential or commercial needs.
The main requirement, of course, is sunlight. This makes solar power most practical for southern areas such as California and Arizona. But it can also be used in more northerly areas as a backup power system. As the technology advances, photovoltaic cells are able to produce usable amounts of electricity even in low light conditions.

Barbie Dolls – Where Did They Come From?
Dear Santa, Please can I have a Barbie doll for Christmas?
Barbie dolls have probably been on Christmas wish lists for several generations of girls. In fact Barbie has become a household name for many years. Who created the first concept of the Barbie doll?
The story started with the birth of Ruth Mosko in Denver Colarado in 1916. Ruth married Elliot Handler in 1938. Elliot Handler and his business partner Harold 'Matt" Matson formed the company Mattel. The name was created by a combination of their names 'Matt-Ell". Mattel originally manufactured picture frames, but after making dolls furniture from scraps decided to focus on toy manufacturing for which Mattel is now famous.
Ruth Handler noticed that her young daughter Barbara was more interested in playing with adult dolls, than the baby dolls that were available at that time. While traveling in Europe she saw a German doll called 'Lilli' which she bought for her daughter. The original 'Lilli' doll was not a children's toy, but a joke style gift for men.
Mattel bought the marketing rights for 'Lilli'. They changed the doll's name to Barbie, named after Ruth's daughter Barbara. Barbie was first released for sale in the United States in 1959 and became a hot seller. Barbie's boyfriend 'Ken' was introduced in 1960. Ken was named after Ruth's son Kenneth.
The Barbie doll was first displayed at the New York International American Toy Fair on March 9, 1959. This date became Barbie's official birthday .There is now a fictional biography of the life of 'Barbie' with additional family and friends created and sold as separate dolls.
Barbara White is not related to Barbie and does not have as many outfits
